Meet Hoodie
Hi, my name is Hoodie! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Curious, a bit shy, loves naps
-Can live with kids: Yes, but an adult must be my primary caregiver
-Experienced rat home: Not required, but we strongly recommend doing plenty of research if you've never owned rats
-Can live with other rats: Yes, rats are social creatures and do best in pairs/groups. I will either need to be adopted with another female rat or go into a home with a resident female rat. Our introductions will need to be gradual to ensure we get along.
-Litter box trained: No
-Bite History: None recorded, but don't stick your fingers in my cage!
Additional information: Hoodie will need a nice roomy (minimum 2 cubic feet of space per rat) cage (NOT a tank) with multiple levels. Her diet should consist of high quality pellet food (like Oxbow essentials) and a small amount of species appropriate fruit/veggies daily. As stated above, rats are social creatures and do not do well on their own.
Hoodie's buddy unfortunately died of cancer, leaving her all by herself. We will only be adopting her out to a home with a resident female rat(s) for her to bond with. She could also be adopted with another female rat from the shelter if any are available. Introductions will need to be done very slowly - meaning you will need two cages. Ask staff for more details. If you'd like to meet Hoodie, the first step is filling out an adoption application.
