Meet Falkor
Estimated birth date: 6/16/2020
Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Inquisitive, Friendly toward humans, Chatty, Playful, Energetic
Favorite treats: Dill, parsley, cilantro, lettuce, carrots, and carrot greens
Favorite toys and activities: Hay sticks, hay baskets, little stuffed animals. He enjoys pocorning around the playpen with Bastian.
Potty trained: Haven’t tried
This animal daily routine: Morning: spot clean cage, fresh hay, pellets, breakfast vegetable. Afternoon: Oxbow Vitamin C tablet, lunch vegetable. Evening: spot clean cage, fresh hay, lettuce, and about an hour of playtime in the playpen with Bastian.
BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): Yes! Falkor is bonded to Bastian!
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Hedgehog: interested, but not sure what to think.
Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Falkor has not had any exposure to children.
Health concerns: None
Behavioral concerns: Falkor & Bastian are in our trust training program for shy behavior when being approached by people. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training Falkor is shy, and does need a bit of time to get to know someone before opening up and becoming comfortable. He will need to continue working on his comfort level with being picked up, and to a lesser degree, being held. With more practice and treats, I have no doubt that he can become comfortable in these areas.
Other notes: Falkor is adorable, and has a lot of character. He likes to think that he is the boss, and as such he rumble struts around the cage a lot. He has been doing pretty well with being held lately, and is becoming more trusting by the day. He will come to the edge of the cage to greet us whenever we walk into the room. He loves his vegetables, but he is a picky eater - he tends to like leafy greens.
Falkor & Bastian found their way to MNPPR after their owner was unable to care for a high volume of guinea pigs.
Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Falkor’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Plymouth PetSmart - 4190 Vinewood Ln N, Plymouth, MN 55442 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Falkor & Bastian have a combined adoption fee of $40
Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.
We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.
