Meet Athena

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Estimated birth date: 11/24/2018

Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Energetic, Nervous, Sweet

Favorite treats: Athena likes bell peppers, carrots, and romaine hearts.

Favorite toys and activities: Athena loves a good mid-day zoomie around her cage. She loves trying out new toys and is especially fond of any toy made from hay (this girl eats A LOT of hay). Athena is working on building up her courage and does best in a habitat with plenty of hideouts.

Potty trained: No

This animal daily routine: Athena is used to getting breakfast around 6am and dinner around 6pm with veggie treats spread out through the day to get her more use to positive human interactions.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?): No, but Athena will need a guinea pig buddy in her adoptive home!

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Athena has been exposed to her foster parent's cats and is not too fond of them. She shows no interested in the cats and will remain hiding until the cats walk away.

Health concerns: Athena came into the foster program with a little patch of fur missing below her left eye but it seems to be growing back.

Behavioral concerns: Athena's foster parent gives her frequent, small veggie treats through out the day to get her used to positive human interactions. She has begun to take certain foods out of her foster parent's hand (mostly just her vitamin C cookies). Athena does best in a habitat with plenty of hideouts and will run from one hideout to another whilst exploring and trying to get closer to her bowl when she hears the pellet bag open.

Athena found her way to MNPPR when her previous owners were unable to afford her care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Athena’s foster parent prefers to meet at the Chuck & Don's Pet Food & Supplies 3244 W Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55416 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Fee: Athena's adoption fee is $25

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.
