Forever Families for Felines

South Plainfield, NJ

Our Mission

FOREVER FAMILIES FOR FELINES is a small 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer based rescue and adoptiion group that prides itself on "going that extra mile" in our rescue efforts. Our kittens and cats all live with loving foster families where they receive daily love, kisses and scritches every day! If you're looking to adopt a kitten or cat, come see us! You can sit and play with our kittens for minutes or hours and get one-on-one play time with all of them!!! It doesn't get any better than that!!!

We are also occasionally involved with TNR (trap, neuter, return). Our group has been practicing TNR for many, many years and we are proud to say that we have spayed and neutered hundreds of feral/stray cats and rescued just as many kittens who were eventually placed into wonderful homes! When possible, rescued cats that are found to be great candidates for adoption are placed in home environments where we work on socializing them. Kittens rescued during TNR are also placed with foster families where they quickly learn how wonderful family life can be! When ready to be adopted, we then place them with wonderful approved "forever families"!

All of our rescue efforts and TNR work carried out by Forever Families for Felines is funded solely by our small group of volunteers, and we desperately are in need of donations to help us with the spaying, neutering and vetting costs incurred so that we can continue with our rescuing cats and kittens in need, and to help with our TNR efforts! Countless hours are spent during each TNR; trapping, transporting, caring for the spayed/neutered cats until release, and socialization of kittens. All kittens are tested, vaccinated, and receive all necessary vetting prior to adoption. But without your donation, it would not be possible for us to continue rescuing kittens and cats and placing them into wonderful "forever families"!

FOSTER HOMES ALWAYS NEEDED!!! Without dedicated foster homes, successful rescue and adoption is very hard to accomplish. Foster homes are the backbone to every rescue. If you have a sincere love for animals and an extra room or area in your home where fostering might be an option, we would love to hear from you!

FOR ANYONE SEEKING TO ADOPT A KITTEN, PLEASE DO NOT OVERLOOK THE YOUNG ADULTS, FULL-GROWN OR SENIOR CATS, AS THEY ARE THE MOST IN NEED OF WONDERFUL FAMILIES AND MAKE WONDERFUL ADDITIONS TO A LOVING FAMILY!!

Opening your home to an animal is a life-long commitment, a "pledge" on your part to care and love them for the rest of their lives! Adopting is a very rewarding experience, but something that should be given serious consideration. But once adoption has been decided upon, it will be an exciting and wonderful experience for the whole family AND your new pet!!!

Adoption Policy

OUR ADOPTION CRITERIA/POLICY: Adopting a pet is a life-time commitment. Cats can live 15-20 years. Just like people, we feel that each animal has their own unique personality. So when we look for a prospective home for our animals, the needs of each animal is our first priority! These animals have already had enough trauma in their lives, so we want to make sure that their new family will be their "forever family." We do our best in placing our kittens and cats with homes that we feel will make a great match. Many factors will be discussed...the age of the pet you are looking to adopt; your home environment; your family make-up; etc. So, before adopting, every family needs to seriously consider the long-term commitment involved in adopting a pet into your family. All family members in the family must all be in agreement in wanting to adopt an animal. We want to make your adoption experience a wonderful experience!

We try to place kittens in pairs if possible. Kittens play together, sleep together, groom each other and keep each other company while you're not home. They teach each other manners and are actually less trouble than one! So unless you have another cat already at home, we try to place our kittens in pairs or with a family that has a resident cat in the home.

OUR ADOPTION PROCESS: The adoption process is a necessary part of adopting. The process begins with an application that a prospective adopter will complete. After our review of your application, if approved, you will be contacted and we will schedule a time that the family can come and meet the kitten or cat that they are interested in adopting! If all goes well and the adoption is approved, the adoption will take place!

At the time of the adoption, each adopter will complete an Adoption Contract outlining what is expected of each family and agree to the requirements in the Adoption Contract.

NOTE: We pride ourselves in staying in touch with our adopters after they have adopted their pet from us! We continue to give advice, answer your questions and just touch base with you to see if you and your pet are doing well! Additionally, we will take any of our adopted pets back for any reason. Never give the animal away or take them to a shelter where they may face being euthanized. Please call us and we will arrange to take the animal back.

OUR ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee to adopt a kitten or cat is $90 and, when adopting a pair, the adoption fee is reduced to $150 for the pair. This adoption fee goes towards helping with the care and vetting for each rescued animal prior to adoption. All adult cats are spayed/neutered, have been tested for FIV and FeLV, are current on vaccinations, and all medical needs addressed and taken care of prior to adoption. All kittens are tested for FIV and FeLV, free of parasites, receive all kitten vaccinations appropriate for their age and, depending on age, spayed or neutered, along with a complete veterinary examination.
