Adoption Policy

Interested in adopting a BARX Dog?

The first step is to Fill out an Adoption Application

Please complete the application, after your application has been received, our adoption coordinator will conduct a phone interview with you to discuss BARX Rescue Squad and Resource Center in general and specifically any rescue dogs that you are interested in or would be a good match for you. A home check from one of our volunteers is necessary to complete the process.
If we feel that you would be a great match for one of our BARX dogs, we will bring the dog for a meet & greet, do a home check and make sure that the home setting is suitable for our BARX Dog. At that time you will fill out an adoption contract. You have a 5 day trial period after the official adoption date to return the dog back to BARX for a full refund of the donation amount in which you will give BARX at the time of the dogs adoption. There is also a 10 day trial period from the official adoption date to exchange the dog for a better suited pet for your family through BARX.

BARX Adoption Donation
The minimum donation at the time of adoption, for a BARX dog range from $100.00-$400.00. There are many variables which are considered for the applicable adoption fee. All of the dogs we adopt out to new homes come with a complete adoption kit which includes 1 month of free pet insurance, leash, collar, harness, bed, food and all necessities pertaining to that particular dog. Crates can be additionally purchased at a discounted rate.
We also include any previous medical history about the dog and current medical records we have acquired while in our care. Each dog has had a complete physical exam, are neutered or spayed, immunized, wormed, flea/tick treatment, HW test if needed, micro-chipped and any other medical treatments needed at the time of intake will be tended to. To the best of our knowledge this pet is in a good medical standing before adoption and/or if any pre existing medical conditions have been discovered in our care they are disclosed to the potential adopter.
We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our opinion, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of a BARX dog. We require that the dog be maintained primarily as an indoor dog and cannot be chained or left unattended in a yard without proper fencing.

The Dogs are Priority #1
We have successfully placed hundreds of dogs in loving homes. All BARX dogs have had a physical exam, are neutered or spayed, immunized, wormed, treated for fleas/ticks, and micro-chipped. Most dogs come to us from being abandoned, dog shelters where they are scheduled to be euthanized, homes where there has been a move, a divorce, allergies or just not enough quality time to spend with the dog.
Our organization is comprised of hard-working volunteers whose only reward is seeing these wonderful dogs placed in loving homes and given a second chance for a happy life.
