Our Mission

Since 1969, our mission has been to work collaboratively with the Merced Animal Control Division to save as many shelter animals as we can through rescue, foster and transport; to improve our community’s environmental health and safety by reducing illnesses in feral animals through trapping and vaccinations, and to continue to spay and neuter of as many of Merced’s animals as we can through our TNR program in an effort to decrease the overwhelming euthanasia rate due to abandonment, abuse and overpopulation.

Adoption Policy

Our volunteers perform a home visit with potential adopter who contacts s via email. Once the adopter has been vetted we require them to fill out an adoption application and and pay a $25 non-refundable adoption fee. In addition, if at any time the adopter is no longer able to care for the cat or if the cats/kitten isn't a good fit for them, they are required to return the animal to the Merced SPCA. We can provide our adoption application to you. It is sent via email when we are contacted about a potential adoption. We do not post it on our website.
