Puff's Story

Meet Puff, the fluffy lionhead! We don't know exactly how old he is because he came to us from an unfortunate situation with many other rabbits, but we believe he is around 6 years old now.

He didn't have much human interaction until he came to us, but has really settled into the house bunny life! He loves routine and knows when mealtimes are (he looks at his foster mama, to remind her when it’s treat time!). He has pretty good litter habits and loves to lounge in his cardboard house.

Puff is what we call a “display only” rabbit. He is uncomfortable with pets and hands, in general. While you might want to pet his soft fluffy mane, it’s important that Puff has a family that respects his boundaries. He will need humans who can patiently work to gain his trust and continue to work with him in a quiet environment. He enjoys being around safe adults and will occasionally entertain you with his dainty binkies. Be sure to give him lots of space to run around!

Puff lives up to his name and is a very fluffy boy who will need regular grooming and trimming around his face so he can see well. His ruby eyes, while beautiful, also make it difficult for him to see. You might notice his head slowly moving from side to side, or scanning. It’s nothing to worry about and is a normal behavior of a REW (Ruby Eyed White) bunny. Keeping his facial fur trimmed, allows him to see better and have more confidence.

He recently had some sharp points on his teeth filed down, and his new family will need to have regular examinations with a vet to make sure his teeth stay in good condition.

We think that a home without small children would be best as he doesn't like loud noises. We aren't sure how he would do with dogs or cats, but either way he will need a quiet home.

If you think you can give Puff the quiet retreat that he’s looking for, please fill out an adoption application here: www.iowarabbitrescue.org/adopt.
