Meet Petunia

Pretty Petunia was surrendered to Blue Chip Rabbitat for socializing and in hopes of a better life. Though her other needs were provided for, she lived outside in a hutch and became afraid of human touch and interactions. She is now in a loving Foster home to try to gain her trust and get her ready for the new life she deserves as a spoiled house bunny. She loves her Ikea bed with cushy soft blanket, wooden cottage hidey-house and enrichment toys. She's a perfect lady with her litterbox. She is curious and playful. She'll keep a close eye on what you're doing which helps lead to positive interactions for trust-building. She will flop down beside you and seems to enjoy the company, though we're still working on how she feels about petting. Oddly enough, she seems to settle more into affection IF and when you are blessed with the opportunity to hold her. This girl is showing us daily that she is all about the house-bunny life!

Petunia is a young adult (DOB estimated based on information provided at intake). Which means she looks forward to plenty of life to enjoy with you! She is a good sized New Zealand Blue and needs plenty of space to binky and get her groove on. With her impeccable habits, she is a perfect candidate for a free-roaming house bunny.

Petunia was recently spayed on 5/13/25, so she needs time to allow her hormones to settle prior to being introduced to another rabbit. Though she does show interest in interacting with other bunnies. *Pre-approved applicants will have first consideration, so we encourage you to apply now.

**We are also in the process of compiling a list of newer intakes to be vaccinated against RHDV2 as soon as possible.

We are always working with the rabbits to help them find their true bond-bun. Could your bunny be "THE Bun"? Fill out the application and, once approved, we'll schedule a Meet 'n' Greet to see if your household might be a bunderful match.

* Indoor Home Only *

Bunnies live an average of 8-10 years, but could live up to 16 or even longer! While they do enjoy gentle pets and head rubs, bunnies generally do not like to be picked up or held as they are prey animals and it can be very scary for them. They also need lots of space to move around, run, binky and play - so no small hutches nor cages. They are social animals who want to be with you and should be accepted as part of the family. They also thrive best in bonded pairs, especially during the hours you are otherwise occupied. They need vet visits just like a dog or cat and will require a yearly vaccination against RHDV2. This is a highly contagious and deadly virus. We strive to get all of our rabbits their first annual vaccines.

Please do your research before adding any pet to your family. Visit houserabbit.org and rabbit.org for accurate, up-to-date bunny information. We also encourage you to take the House Rabbit Society's free zoom classes. We are happy to answer any questions you may have before and after adoption, as well as assist in helping you decide whether bunnies are right for you. We offer ongoing support and encourage ongoing learning to ensure that you and your bunnies thrive.

Please find a place in your heart and home for unwanted, discarded shelter animals. Thank you for adopting, not shopping!
