Meet Crunchy

Crunchy is a lovely rabbit who has endured more than his fair share of hardship so far in his life. This little guy was abandoned outside and spent several weeks living in the bushes outside a Crunch Fitness facility. Over that time he picked up fleas, ticks and a cuterebra bot fly. He likely also went through a tornado – yes you read that right! Two weeks before his capture an EF0 tornado blew through directly across the street from the bushes he had been calling home! Needless to say he likes to seek shelter in a safe space when he hears storms rolling by outside now.

Crunchy is a shy rabbit who needs some patience to learn to trust. He isn’t unfriendly or aggressive in any way, he will just dart back to his safe space if he is startled. He will come over when he is expecting food. He seems to be ok with being pet most of the time, he’s not too fond of being picked up though. He takes his time exploring new spaces, preferring those with carpet or other secure footing. His favourite activity is throwing his food bowl around, and he is particularly skilled at getting it to land perfectly in his water bowl. He seems to prefer tossing the bowl to his actual toys. He likes to crunch on palm-based chews.

He loves his pellets and has a good appetite for hay. He likes most greens other than Swiss Chard which he refuses to touch. His litter habits have been good and continue to improve since his neuter. He would likely be a good candidate for bonding to a confident female. Crunchy had one of his front toes removed during his neuter due to a bleeding lump. The lump was tested and came back totally benign, and once his fur grows back you will never know anything had happened. His fur is rather dry and rough right now, likely evidence of having been housed outside before his abandonment. We are looking forward to when his new fur comes in nice and soft. Crunchy is looking for a foster or adoptive home!
