Meet Crouton

Due to health and safety concerns, we are now pursuing adoptions with additional safety measures in place. We will be asking potential adopters to discuss their individual preferences and comfort levels involving safety precautions during the greeting/adoption day step. We are HIGHLY suggesting all participants wear facial coverings, stay at least six feet apart, & use sanitization of all surfaces, and hands before and after contact.

Estimated birth date: 2/14/18

Personality: Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc), Inquisitive, Friendly toward other animals, Nervous, Sassy - Will box at you if you enter his space unannounced.

Favorite treats: Baked oxbow treats, especially the cranberry ones!

Favorite toys and activities: He really enjoys napping on top of his igloo. He plays with his puzzle toys and jingle toys a lot as well.

Potty trained: Working on litter box training!

This animal daily routine: Morning greens, pellets, & water refresh. Free roam during the day with a treat in the evening.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a same species friend in their home?):
Although Crouton doesn't have a bunny friend now, he should be adopted to a family with a current rabbit that is seeking a cagemate.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Cats & Dogs, very indifferent and hardly notices they are around.

Health concerns: None - Crouton is currently being treated for a bladder infection. His medication will be finished 6/26/2020

Behavioral concerns: Crouton is in our trust training program for cage guardian behaviors. He does not bite but anytime someone gets near or puts hands in his cage, even to feed or change his water, he gets territorial and charges at the hand sometimes even grunting and boxing. Crouton has been doing really well with his trust training program. We speak to him softly before getting near his enclosure, reach in with our hands within his field of vision & allow him to come to us first when possible. Other notes: If you were to meet Crouton outside of his cage you would never guess he is full of sass and attitude. Once he pouts about being picked up for a second, he will snuggle on the couch with you and allow you to pet him for hours! We think a cage mate would calm him down, but it has to be the right personality to click with his. He is such a sweet heart but needs time to bond to humans as he doesn't trust us at first.

Crouton found his way to MNPPR after showing territorial behavior towards his previous family.

Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. Crouton’s foster parent prefers to meet at either PetSmart location in Rochester, MN - 3845 Marketplace Dr NW, Rochester, MN 55901 & 4603 Maine Ave SE #109, Rochester, MN 55904 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
