Meet Chickie Blue

Chickie Blue and a number of other rabbits were running loose in Christmas after their owner released them and left them to fend for themselves. Fortunately, a concerned neighbor found Chickie Blue living in her backyard and contacted ORCA for help. Domestic rabbits do not have the survival skills that wild rabbits have and usually do not last very long on their own. CB's camouflage coloration probably helped her survive outside for as long as she did. In any case, she was brought into our care and is now enjoying learning about house rabbit life in her foster home.

Chickie Blue is a lively and expressive bunny! Her fetching lionhead mane suits her spunky personality. She is very food motivated and will often run up to her foster parents and stand on her hind legs for food. She is on the vocal side and will reprimand you when you do something she doesn't like. She can be cautious with new people at first, but once she has settled in she enjoys being petted and brushed. Chickie Blue's favorite activities include searching for food in (and shredding) her brown paper bags, rearranging the cardboard boxes in her enclosure at night, and exploring her surroundings when she is let out of her enclosure. She gets along well with the (gentle) six-year-old human in her foster home, allowing her to hand feed her, and she tolerates the (also gentle) elderly dog in the home. Chickie Blue lived briefly with a loud and clumsy dog and did not enjoy that at all. She is not crazy about being picked up, but with time, patience and practice will likely become more tolerant of this. Chickie Blue is eagerly seeking that special forever home where she can live her best life.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don't see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder!

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.
