Meet FOUND IN BIRD CAGE

Found in a bird cage and left in the woods to die. This 3 1/2 pound Chihuahua was discovered in some woods located in Lorain County a few weeks ago. A person that wishes to remain anonymous said they were going to feed some deer and found this little guy crying with his last breaths of life - crying for help. He was freezing to death , starving and dehydrated. We may never know who did this inhumane and awful thing to such an innocent life. He was taken to a local vet to be euthanized . The vet felt he was a little fighter and felt he could save him. Due to his complicated medical condition and diagnosis of congestive heart failure he is still fighting and getting much better. He was adopted to a wonderful couple but due to his need for complex medical care he is now with us at Saint Francis Animal Sanctuary. He is a little fighter and we feel he can have a good chance at a normal life like all senior Chihuahuas deserve. We need some donations to help at this point! If anyone can help please send donations to : Avon Lake Animal Clinic C/O Chihuahua - Found in woods. 124 Miller Rd. Avon Lake, OH 44012 or call 440-933-5297 for a credit card donation. We are a private sanctuary and pay for everything ourselves, every once in a while we have to ask for help. Thanks to people like you we are able to continue to save the helpless and abused animals we care for. Thank you.
We are searching for an appropriate name for this little guy so if you have any ideas please e-mail us and tell us what you think. mparke11@aol.com

UPDATE 3-22-06 He has been taken off his lasix and is being treated for pneumonia . The little guy has a small hole that looks like it extends up into his nasal area.It is located where a canine tooth had to be removed and this is causing liquids to come out is nose when he drinks water. Still trying to figure out that one!! He remains at the Avon Lake Animal Clinic at this time.
UPDATE: 3-26-06 Tweetie Pie is doing very well. He loves to hide under his blanket. He is full of energy and loves to pee on everything he can! We are considering corrective surgery to fix the fistual in his mouth. Perhaps that is the cause of his pneumonia. He takes fluids into his little lungs when he drinks water. The vet said he can repair it and we are going to try. Other then that this little guy is happy and healthy.
UPDATE: JUNE 5, 2006. TWEETIE PIE HAS BEEN THROUGH A LOT FOR SUCH A LITTLE GUY. WE HAD HIM TO THE VET AND NOW KNOW HE HAS A COLLAPSED TRACHEA. THIS IS MOST PROBABLY THE CAUSE OF THE COUGHING. HE IS OBVIOUSLY GETTING ENOUGH OXYGEN TO SURVIVE BUT THE AREA THAT IS COLLAPSED IS LOCATED IN THE WORST PLACE POSSIBLE. SURGERY IS PROBABLY NOT AN OPTION FOR THIS LITTLE ANGLE. THIS POOR BOY WAS FOUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER, STUFFED INTO A BIRD CAGE AND LEFT IN THE WOODS TO DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH OF STARVATION, DEHYDRATION AND FREEZING TO DEATH. WHAT AN ORDEAL FOR A 4 POUND LITTLE GUY! WE MAY ATTEMPT BREATHING MEDICATION AT SOME POINT. RIGHT NOW HE HAS MADE FRIENDS WITH ISABELLE ANOTHER 4 POUND CHIHUAHUA AND THEY PLAY TOGETHER!
