Meet Winnie
Meet Winnie, a 2-3 year old, 50lbs, staffie/pibble dog.
When Winnie first got to her foster home, she was so scared of living indoors, but she’s made so much progress! Not flinching when touched, taking treats from a hand, and coming indoors are some of the milestones Winnie has achieved in her foster home.
Winnie needs her people’s patience to slowly build trust with her, and she needs one or more dog siblings. She will show you over time how much she loves toys, and bones, and belly rubs, and playtime with her doggy sibs! Her crate is her safe space and she happily sleeps there at night.
But Winnie still gets scared sometimes. It helps if people are slow, quiet, and gentle but she’s still working through some serious trust issues with humans. She is never aggressive, she is firmly “flight” over “fight”. Winnie is uncomfortable with both negative and positive reinforcement which makes training and even communicating house rules very difficult. She needs to be either supervised or crated pretty much all the time.
Winnie had been bred at least once before she was picked up due to concerns about humane treatment. She’s suffered so much in her short life but she’s a beautiful, gentle soul who will thrive with the right forever home. If you’re not able to make room for Winnie in your home, please share her bio via the social media links.
Thanks to PPAWS, Winnie is spayed and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. Her adoption fee of $220 helps cover her vet bills and housing costs. Apply to adopt Winnie at www.purple-paws.org
