Miss Shaka was surrendered to our rescue several months ago after being with her family for many years as they were no longer able to care for her due to health issues of their own. Shaka came to us with a little medical issue of her own in the form of a lump on the back of her neck. WARM had her lump surgically removed but unfortunately due to miscommunication with the vet, they did not send it for biopsy so we are not certain what the lump actually was. All we do know is that she is all healed up and ready for a new family! She is not showing any signs of being ill and we see no regrowth where the lump once was.



Shaka is 9 years young with a stunningly beautiful greying face. She deserves to be lounging in the air conditioning on a soft bed and not in our kennel/crate environment. There is one thing she misses. Constant human interaction. She went from a family and undivided attention to seeing her volunteer family a few times a day. She whines and longs for that family environment again in her golden years.

Our sweet girl does come with very specific criteria. Please do not apply if you do not meet this criteria:

A secure fenced in yard not shared with any other family/animals
No other animals (no cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, farm animals, etc)
No neighborhoods with other dogs who have no boundaries and are free to roam
No other visiting animals to the home

As you can tell, Shaka is not a huge fan of sharing her time and attention with others. While she has calmed down after several months with the other dogs in the rescue, she does not tolerate sharing with them and does not tolerate new dogs walking by or knowing cats are near. She has prey drive which has to be monitored in the right home. What does this mean? Just a little extra caution from her new family is all. Ensuring all doors are secured and a leash is on prior to taking her for walks. Not allowing strange dogs to approach her on walks. Being confident you are strong enough to walk her. She actually walks like a DREAM, unless she sees small animals and then she does pull. Overall, setting her up for success by just understanding she really wants to be your one and only no matter where you are!

Regardless of her very specific needs, Shaka is an amazingly human friendly girl who loves butt scratches and your attention. Energetic enough to still walk with you. Lazy enough to also just watch tv with you.

Home visit, meet and greet and adoption fee are mandatory. Shaka is up to date on her shots, spayed, on flea and tick prevention and has healed from her lump removal.
