Chicken aka Braveheart Chihuahua & Manchester Terrier Mix Cincinnati, OH

Hello my name is Chicken but everyone keeps telling me that my new name should be Braveheart so I guess that's what I am called. I’m about 2 years young.

I am not so sure what this whole name thing is about though because I have lived in this world for almost two or three years and I never had a thing called a name. I guess it's something special that most doggies get but I will definitely have to learn the importance of that.

You see I was brought into HART from a hoarding situation after a hundred and fifty or so dogs were saved by several shelters and rescues. I mean I survived that for several years so I guess I could be what they call Brave!

I have found that my favorite pastime is to follow my human friends around like a shadow to their footsteps. I am still not so fond of them petting me or touching me but I think I will try and be Brave at some point, that will come in due time. Sometimes I will hide in my crate but my humans tell me I am getting Braver and Braver by the moment because every once and awhile I will perch myself right on top of that crate all proud and everything! I guess that is an accomplishment.

All my humans say I have had what is called a rough life. I keep getting used to how many emotions humans have, before HART I didn't really know what humans were. Boy oh boy they sure can be animated and get excited when I do the smallest task. They seem to be ok though because now I am getting fresh water and good food everyday.

They also say I am now ready for what is called an adoption and they checked with me as to what type of home I would like to live in. Humans, they sure are very particular! I would love a very patient adopter. One who understands I will need a lot of time in order to be comfortable with them and learn to trust them. I would like to have what humans call a fenced in yard so I can follow you around in order to do my business. I have met a couple dogs and did well enough with them but not too many, I like the low key life of not a lot of commotion. I would prefer no cats or critters though because they are just a little too enticing for me.

I guess what I would like most of all is someone who just accepts me for who I am and lets me go at my own pace. I am told being Brave means doing what I am afraid of. You see I used to be afraid a lot until I learned that my humans can help me be Brave. That is what I need, someone to help me be Brave because after all I am Braveheart.
