Meet Mario
Meet Mario! Mario is about 15 weeks old, around 18 lbs., and believed to be a border collie mix. He came to HART from a high intake shelter in rural Kentucky with his five siblings. He was neutered 2 weeks ago and is ready to find his new family!
Mario lives with his sister Molly and is a very chill guy.
He loves to play and he doesn’t get too upset when Molly takes his toys or tries to boss him around. He’s very independent and loves to explore on his own but always comes back to hang around with his foster parents when he’s called. Mario is very good about listening when he’s told no. He is initially a little nervous when he meets new dogs but gets along well with them after having a few minutes to get comfortable with them.
He has learned to enjoy getting on rafts in the pool with his foster dad and is becoming more willing to try to swim on his own. He’s very smart and seems to prefer cuddling with people over hanging out with his sister.
Mario and Molly are also using buttons from Fluent Pet to “speak” with their fosters. They use “Outside” regularly and are learning to use the “Play” button.
Mario loves to go outside and explore so he uses the “Outside” button consistently and has started to use the “Play” button. More buttons will be added while he’s with his foster family. For more information on the buttons, check out Fluent Pet or www.TheyCanTalk.org.
Mario is doing well on potty training but will really master it when he is separated from Molly. They tend to distract each other when they are outside. He sleeps through the night in his kennel and has no accidents.
