Lyla Poodle Cincinnati, OH

Lyla, a toy poodle, is a tiny little lover! She weighs just under 9 pounds, and is thought to be 2 years old. Her favorite activity is to snuggle. If no one’s lap is available, Lyla will perch on the back of a chair or sofa to relax. In her foster home, Lyla has been introduced to dogs of various sizes, but no cats. She is learning to sit for her leash, come when called, and to go to her crate on command.

Lyla’s biggest challenge has been with house-training. Due to her history, she is just now working on this important skill, but has made wonderful progress in her foster home. She needs to be walked on a leash every couple of hours throughout the day. She also needs to be crated when she is not being closely supervised, to avoid reverting to her previous habits. When left overnight, or for longer periods of time, Lyla’s crate needs to be large enough to allow for 3 areas: 1) her blanket or bed, 2) an empty space, and 3) newspaper/pee pad for her to use. We are unsure whether or not Lyla can be house-trained beyond her current abilities, so potential adopters need to be accepting of that fact.

Lyla also needs another dog in the home, and would be happiest in a home where she can receive lots of snuggle time! Lyla’s size makes most fences ineffective for keeping her in, so she needs to be leashed or supervised closely. She is very little, but she is also very fast!
