Alex Coonhound & Shepherd Mix Cincinnati, OH

Alex is a good looking pup, estimated to be 12 months old in December and we’re guessing him to be a Shepherd/Hound mix. He came to HART from a shelter in West Virginia where he was picked up as a stray. He is 15 inch tall at the shoulder, weighs 32 pounds, and has a muscular build. He was treated for worms, cleaned, got all his shots, and is doing well.

Alex is a very playful dog, loves to play, run, and wrestle with other dogs. He is also playful with people and would be good with children, although you’d need to be careful with smaller children as he gets excited when meeting new people and may knock them over, but fine after initial meeting. He does chase cats. He likes to explore new places, like the garage and basement, etc. He likes chasing balls and will play fetch.

He's very loving and confident dog that likes to cuddle on the couch in your lap after some playtime. We're not sure how long Alex was fending for himself in the wild, so some basic training is likely in order. He is crate trained. Working on house training and is doing well if left out often enough.

He does come well on command, stops most of the time on command, and working on sit command. He is very food driven. He likes to run in the yard, so a fenced yard would be best for him. Initially he pulls some during walks, but he loves all the new sites and smells.

He’s a sweetie and would absolutely love a home to call his own!
