Meet Max
Meet Max, He is a senior gentleman that was found wandering in West Virginia. No one claimed this little guy so he came to HART to start a fresh life. He was terribly matted, so much so that he had to be sedated and shaved. So his new "style" may look a little rough, but once his fur grows back in he's going to be as handsome as ever.
He is a small guy at around #20 and although he's obviously had a rough life his little tail doesn't stop wagging. He greets everyone at his boarding facility with a happy wag and his paws up on your knees to say hello.
We were told he lived with 7 other dog at a foster home in West Virginia but his first meeting with a male dog here in Ohio didn't go well. This little guy has been through so much lately, it's no wonder he's a bit leery of new dogs. He has since worked with the HART trainer and is doing much better. In the Ohio foster home with 2 dogs, he was roaming together in the fenced yard within 15 minutes. On the second day, he even played with the younger dog. Max doesn’t like to share your lap but does respond to a stern correction, and after a day is fine with the other 2 dogs being on the foster’s lap. So he's probably best as an only dog unless you have some experience with dogs.
We also noticed he doesn't like to have his paws touched, so if his new home has children they should be over age 6, although he objects less the longer he has been as foster’s house.
Max is a very affectionate pup that loves to be with his people, and will follow you around, sit on your lap even at a desk. He likes sleeping with you with his head on the pillow and his body under the blankets and will stays there the whole night. He comes well on command, enjoys walks, rides well in the car, and is playful for a senior dog. He is house trained and seldom barks.
