LPMR volunteers schedules are very busy caring for dogs in the rescue. Emails with general questions will not be answered.

Bailey loves to cuddle and be petted, is great on a leash, is incredibly handsome, is full of youth and energy (acts like a 3yr old), and has been kept up-to-date on shots his whole life so is very healthy. He becomes very attached and trusting of his owner(s) and loves an enormous amount of hugging and snuggling once he gets there.
He is good with strangers but can be less patient with them when it comes to his boundaries. He prefers to be the center of his owner’s life, so would do better in a home with no other dogs. He wants his way! He can become cranky if there is too much going on or if he is not getting the attention he wants. If you surprise him, he will give you a warning growl and can bite if that growl is not heeded. He will not be adopted where children are in the home.

Bailey's story is quite different than a lot of the other rescues up for adoption in that he has been spoiled and coddled his whole life which has led to some bad habits and behaviors. He is intelligent and very food driven, so is very motivated during training. He does, however, require an owner with a firm hand who can set firm boundaries so his spoiled nature does not run the house. He whines, scratches and barks when he wants his way and will do best with an experienced owner in preferably a quiet home who can keep these behaviors at bay until he develops new habits. This owner will be well rewarded if from day one they do not let Bailey be in charge.

Bailey has some unusual traits. He is willing to be snuggled in ways many dogs don’t enjoy. He will fall asleep in his owners arms, he loves attention. It wants it on his terms.

His history: For the first 7.5 years of Bailey's life he lived with an adoring family on the northeast coast. They were new dog owners and they didn’t correct unwanted behavior early, they loved him and took excellent care of him, making sure he got every shot and vet visit he needed. They then had a baby and couldn't risk Bailey's biting if he was startled or disturbed when he didn’t want to be.
The best fit for Bailey will be an adopter who will not cater to his mis-behaving. He’s charming, But he needs a adopter with a firm disposition.

** Please note: Due to their size, our dogs are not suitable for homes with children under 5..

We do not have a facility, all dogs are fostered in the homes of our volunteers. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws, please visit our website at www.lilpaws-malteserescue.org and fill out an adoption application. This is the first step in our adoption process. Our goal is to place our dogs in safe, stable and loving homes in the Austin Metropolitan area. Thanks for looking!

Lil' Paws Maltese Rescue and other Petite Paws depends on donations to keep the dogs in our program healthy. Many health issues are taken care of before a dog leaves a rescue: spaying, neutering, immunizations, dental care, and in some cases major surgery. Because of the cost of this care, donations are essential to enable us to continue our work. If you would like to show appreciation for what we do and help us continue to do it please go to our website homepage and click the donate button. We thank you in advance for your support.
