Meet Dixie
Dixie is a very, very, very sweet little girl, who is the most loving dog you could meet. This little lady was surrendered to a woman in TN and brought here to find her perfect furever. She will be your best friend 24 hours a day. You will absolutely know that you are SPECIAL because Dixie will be at your side no matter what. When you talk to her or reach down to pet her, she will reward you with happy kisses and a wiggle butt/knub.
Dixie has the head and ears and coat which make her look like a cattle dog, but her legs and body are short for a cattle dog. Maybe a mini cattle dog? She weighs in at 39 pounds; the vet says she could lose a few lbs. She stands about 10 inches high at her shoulder. Her coat is very soft and smooth, and she has the perkiest little ears which are constantly in motion, checking out everyone and everything.
Right now, Dixie is very shy and submissive. She is looking for kind humans that she can trust who will protect and care for her, she needs a home willing to work with her on meeting new people due to being scared at first. She goes outside very nicely on a leash but hangs back in case anything unexpected might 'pop' up. She is not too excited to go on walks – yet, she prefers the yard. We just try to walk a little farther each time.
Dixie is a quiet dog, crate-trained and seems housebroken. She does do a little bit of submissive peeing, but already we've noticed it is decreasing because she knows us. She does get along with other dogs! She did live with two young children previously and did fine but we aren't sure how the piddling would do with that.
If you are looking for a dog who will more than repay you for rescuing her, then Dixie wants to be a part of your home!
Dixie's adoption fee is $250, and adopters must live within 175 miles of the Quad City Area.
