Hamilton Pit Bull Terrier Mix Manhattan, KS

Hello my name is Hamilton! My foster family calls me Ham or Hammy for short. I am a young male 55 lb American Pit Bull Terrier around one year old. I was saved in the nick of time from euthanasia, as I was going to be put down due to fear. But as soon as I got out of that scary place, I have been sooo happy and full of life! Thank you for Purple PAWS for giving me a chance!
I am a little nervous around new people, but once I know you, I’ll never leave your side. I absolutely adore my foster family and want to follow them everywhere they go (and I’m working on being okay when they have to leave). I am good with other dogs and would probably do best in a home with another dog or two to help buffer my separation anxiety a bit. I haven’t been tested with cats yet but I think I’d just ignore them. I can be cat tested prior to adoption if necessary. I haven’t really met kids yet, but I think I would love them as long as they gave me some space to warm up to them first!
My foster family is trying to teach me about something called manners, I don’t really understand why they’re important but I’m picking up on them. I am walking really well on leash already and am learning some basic commands. It’s still soooo hard for me not to jump on people because I love them so much. I do not have a good relationship with the kennel yet, we’re working on that. I am essentially house trained but I have a young bladder and need to go out often so I don’t have accidents.
I am HUGE snuggler and the best kisser! I would love a family who is active but also loves to chill out and take naps together. A fenced yard would be ideal for me, but if I can go on walks/runs frequently we can work around that!
