Meet Donnie
Donnie is a 7 year old ShihTzu weighing in at 19lbs. When he first came into Noah's Hope on May 31st he was diagnosed with UTI with bladder stones, conjunctivitis, deformity of multiple limbs, mass on his head and dental disease. What a mess! First thing we had to do was clear up his bladder problem. After a month some of the smaller stones dissolved, but not the bigger ones. Surgery was set up! Donnie had several stones removed from his bladder, the benign cyst removed from the top of his head and two infected teeth removed. The second day after his surgery Donnie decided he didn't like his stitches so tried removing them himself. He left the Clinic with a cone and superglue. The next day he finished taking out his remaining stitches (with his cone on) so had to be returned to the Clinic for more superglue! Two weeks later for his followup the stitches on his head which healed nicely were removed. Before we could get out of the room, his surgical cut split open and started to bleed! More superglue! This little guy just couldn't get a break.
Today, his stones are gone, but will need to be on a special diet of urinary dog food to prevent stones from reappearing. His cyst is healing nicely. Donnie should be on pain medicine the rest of his life for his deformed legs which most likely was caused from malnourishment after he was born. He doesn't let this bother him, he gets where he wants to go. He may need help getting up and down stairs at times.
Donnie is a very sweet boy, gets along with the other four dogs in his Foster home and is good with people of all sizes. Because of his deformities he may not be able to keep up with younger children.
Donnie is housetrained, up-to-date on his vaccinations, microchipped AND ready for the next chapter of his life. His adoption fee is $135. Please visit our website to complete an adoption application www.noahshopeanimalrescue.com/adopt/apply
