Meet Milo

My name is Milo – a member of the illustrious Shih Tzu family of dogs,
We were prized by Chinese nobles (and rightly so) who, for a very long time, would not sell, trade or give us away. That's how special we were and still are! So, here's your chance to get in on one great dog!

We are known to be lion-hearted and I am just that. I am brave and true and loving. I am around 13 years old and I weigh around 13 pounds. Lucky 13!

My owner is now in a care facility and I am staying with a very nice person, but because she has four other dogs she no longer has much time for me. She tries, but it's not easy trying to love five dogs after a long day at work. I have been spending a lot of time in my crate while she is at work and would love to get out a lot more.

I am really easy-going and can hang out with respectful kids, dogs and cats. I think I must have some sensitive areas on my body because sometimes when I am touched in certain spots I may snap--but as I don't have gob of teeth it is pretty benign. I understand it may scare some people, but I don't mean anything by it. Sometimes I get a wiggle of excitement, combined with a short burst of energy and run around the house. But then I am ready to snuggle down with whomever will take me in their lap. That is easy enough as I am just a small ball of fluffy love.
I am always ready to take a walk and am really good on a leash. I really don't understand commands, but then I am noble and shouldn't really be ordered about anyways. I am sure the reason I don't understand is that I can't really hear the commands as I am almost completely deaf. Hey, that's good for us when the Fourth of July comes around.
One of my favorite activities is to wander around the yard and I can do this for hours--just smelling the roses!! That's why a fenced yard is probably best for me because then you can let me out and I can just hang out with the grass and trees.
And as my eyesight sure isn't what it used to be, a fence line makes a good, safe boundary for me to follow.

I do require just a bit of tender, loving care as I need eye drops 3x a week and daily medication for an under-active thyroid. That's not too bad for a guy my age though and I am worth the trouble – guaranteed! Oh yes, I am a bit creaky at times and have trouble negotiating stairs. But if you live somewhere with no stairs or I can stay on the first floor--no worries! besides, 13-pounds isn't much to lift up and down if there is a stair or two. I'm flexible. Getting old can be such a drag sometimes.

Did I mention I love car rides? Woohoo – I love car rides. Take me out in the car – please!

Well, that's the me I can write about. If you met me and gave me a hug you would never want to let me go.
