Meet Spike

Meet Spike!

Spike is definitely one of a kind. We love all our cats, but this boy is extra special. First of all, in case you can't tell by his photos, this is one BIG boy. And not in an overweight "I like to lie around all day" sort of way (not that there's anything wrong with that), but in height and stature too! Plus, he is so handsome! We love his mix of tabby and tuxedo coats. He has a gorgeous chocolate brown tabby face, back, and legs. Highlighted by a snow-white chest, belly, and mittens. But best of all, from the front, because the white covers the top half of his front legs, it looks he's wearing a white t-shirt. We just can't get enough of this chonky boy!

Spike's personality is as large as his size. This boy is an expert HUGGER! Once he knows you are his friend, he will greet you by putting his front paws up on your shoulders and laying his head right next to yours. And be prepared to lift this full-figured boy because he loves to be held! Again, that comes with a hug. He'll put his front legs around your neck and whisper in your ear about how grateful he is to be in his forever home. If you decide you'd prefer to do this while sitting, Spike will be happy to accommodate and snuggle with you on the couch.

This boy's size does not keep him from showing some impressive athleticism. Spike loves to chase string toys and he jumps high in the air trying to grab his prey. We can send you home with one of his favorites to make sure he keeps on his workout plan--we don't want him to get TOO much chonkier.

Spike would be more than happy to be your one and only true love, although he has done fairly well living in a communal setting with other cats. We think his size makes some of our cats a little nervous, and when Spike senses this, he can become overstimulated and he has on a few occasions taken a swipe at others. This is probably just due to living at a shelter. Once he has his own forever home and doesn't have to meet new cats every week or so, we think he will be able to settle down. He did have some trouble with the initial transition to our space, so he would appreciate an adopter who is extra loving and patient and willing to give him the time he needs to become comfortable with new surroundings. Believe us, he is SO worth it.
