Meet Millie

Meet Millie! Millie is about 3-years-old and 35-pounds. She was found severely malnourished in rural Mississippi. Millie is a very happy dog! She is crate and leash-trained. She gets along well with other dogs and is pretty quiet & respectful. She would love to sleep in a bed all day if you let her!

On 10/9/19, Millie unfortunately tested positive for heartworm disease. She got this by being bitten by an infected mosquito. She is not contagious to other dogs (but all dogs should be on heartworm prevention monthly, year-round to prevent infection/reinfection). Underdog has started Millie on treatment for heartworm, and with proper after-care, she will fully recover. Her adopter will simply need to bring Millie to scheduled treatment appointments and keep her CALM (with strict crate rest or supervised relaxation) post treatment injections (for 2-3 months). We provide adopters with instructions and will cover needed meds. Dogs who are treated for heartworm have a positive likelihood of recovery when post-treatment instructions and rest are followed.

**Please note: Our animals live in foster homes throughout the Madison area. We do not have a shelter where animals are available for daily viewing. Applying is the first step in our process.**

Dogs from Underdog Pet Rescue come with the following medical care already provided:
Spay/Neuter
Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella Vaccinations (as age appropriate-puppy adopters may need to cover some vaccine boosters OR they have the option of bringing the pet to Underdog for complimentary completion of these vaccines)
Heartworm Test (for dogs over 6mo)
Microchip
Deworming
Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative
Any other necessary medical treatment as recommended by veterinarian

Our adult dog adoption fee is $275. Our puppy (under 5 mo) is $350. Our senior dog (over 8 yrs) is $250.

*Please note that all breeds noted are estimates or best guesses. We very rarely have information on our animals' actual breeds since they often come to the shelters we work with as strays*
