KIRA Alaskan Malamute & Husky Mix Casper, WY

Hey all you out there in Moonsong Land! My name is Kira. I am a 6 year old spayed female Mal-a-nuff that Moonsong sprung from the local shelter after being bounced from home to home and back to the shelter several times over the course of just a couple months. I am a good pup, love my humans and I get along with both my foster brother and sister. I know many commands, walk pretty well on a leash and am house trained although I am not really fond of crates. I do have the typical propensity for the little bunnies and other small critters out where I live but so far I have behaved myself and haven’t gone off on a chasing spree. I know I seem to have my medical problems but together Moonsong, my wonderful vet and fantastic foster home are working to make sure I will be able to run and play with the best of them! I still have some mending to do but I am getting stronger and stronger with each passing day. I really want a fur-ever home of my own. Where I am now is the best but I know that it is just a stop over on my way to a permanent home. Do you think you might have a spot in your home and your heart for me?

UPDATE: Sweet Kira had only been in rescue with Moonsong Malamute Rescue for 3 short weeks after being returned to a shelter in Casper, Wyoming 3 times within a week, probably because of her medical concerns. MMR stepped forward and took her into rescue. After x-rays on her hips and knees, Moonsong started an injection regiment to help with the arthritis in her joints but due to the added stress put on her one good knee because of the arthritis, she tore her cruciate ligament and needed TTA (tibial tuberosity advancement) surgery. The surgery was done the middle of August and she is doing great recuperating at her foster home. Kira had been in pain for a long time from her other joints and certainly deserves to run and play with the other dogs. With the progress she is making, we are hoping it won’t be too long before this happens.
