Meet Kendrick

Hi! My name is Kendrick. If you have a minute I would like to tell you about my journey to Noah's Hope. It started when my old owner took me to the Humane Society in hopes of me finding a new family. The nice people there put me in a kennel and gave me a soft blanket, food and water. But I was so scared. I hadn't been around many people or other dogs... and there was so much barking. I would lay in the kennel and not move. Then my day came to meet the vet. She gave me a full health check up and she realized something I already knew.... I cant see very well! I could of told them that because I have been blind since birth, but they dont talk dog I guess. Anyway, they thought I should be moved to a foster home so I could learn to trust people and meet some new fur friends. So I arrived at Noah's Hope. My foster mom was a little overwhelmed at my condition at first. I had never been on a leash or been walked before so I would lay on the ground and not budge. I also didnt know how to go thru a doorway so my foster mom had to carry me out to go potty. And that was no easy task because I am a solid girl weighing in at 45 pounds. But after about 3 weeks I started walking like a pro and now it is simple! I also go in and out of the house with no problems. I do have accidents sometimes but not very often. And I am comfortable in a wire kennel so I sleep in there at night. I get along good with other dogs as long as they can keep up with my energy. One old crabby dog in my foster home does not like to play so we dont see eye to eye. Well, mostly because I cant see at all!!! Yep! That was a blind joke! I recently went to an eye specialist in Omaha and that wonderful doctor said I have Retinal Degeneration and immature cataracts. She said I have very limited vision but can see some movement. She said down the road I may need eye drops but nothing to be concerned about right now. She also said that as sweet and as smart as I am.... I will make someone a very good pet. So that's where you come in... I am now looking for my forever home. I am 8-9 months old, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. I love everyone I meet, but may do best in a home without very small children. Since I can't see them, I may get startled. My adoption fee is $135.
