Meet QUILL

Quill is a very gentle soul. His safe place is inside the kennel, door open or not, he prefers to be in there. He's come out of his protective shell more every day and has socialized very well with many other dogs.

When he first came to Dolly's Legacy, he was one of the saddest dogs we had ever met. He was suffering from neglect and badly needed to be rescued from that life. His teeth were rotting, he was suffering from heartworm disease, and and clearly was not feeling the best. He has become very patient and respectful to the other dogs. He doesn't really interact with them, nor is he playful at this point, but he is still learning what it is to feel good and finally be a real dog.
He goes to his foster mom for pets and knows his name and comes when called. His soulful eyes are beautiful when he comes up to get attention.

He is house-trained, no accidents at all since we've had him. He hasn't been kenneled at night lately and that has been very successful and he prefers to sleep up on the bed if there is room with the other dogs. He has come a very long way in a short time. There are still moments he gets scared from noises or movements but that is less and less now. He has no issues with cats. We have not had him around children but older kids or no kids would probably be best for him since he startles with sudden movements and loud noises.

Quill needs an extra-special forever home where he will be treated like the royalty he is. We won't accept anything less than perfect for him!

Quill is a Black & Tan Coonhound, weighs 55 lbs and was born approximately 4-29-16. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, and was given a dental. He tested positive for heartworm disease & is receiving life-saving heartworm treatment. He will need to remain on monthly heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure he is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.
