ERNIE Feist Lincoln, NE

Hi, I’m Ernie (aka "one ear up") and I’m looking for a special person (or people) to call my own! I am a shy guy so it takes me a little bit of time to warm up to new people. Once I know I can trust you, I will be your best friend! I love long walks through the neighborhood, scratches behind my ears, squeaky toys, and squirrels (OMG, OMG, SQUIRRELS!!) I am completely house trained and am not really interested in chewing things up around the house except for my own toys. I do go in my crate when my foster mom is at work and generally snooze the day away. I was sleeping in my crate at night until my foster mom started letting me sleep in the bed with her and the other dogs. I love snuggling up with her or the other dogs at night. I walk pretty well on the leash but will pull when I see a squirrel (did I mention that I LOVE SQUIRRELS?).

I have two foster dog siblings and one foster cat sibling. I want to play with the other dogs but they don’t seem too interested in me. That’s okay, though, because I am perfectly happy playing on my own. I’ve also been trying to play with my kitty sibling but he just whacked me on the nose and wouldn’t play. What a bummer!

I would like a fenced yard but would also be fine with any fenced area (like a dog park or apartment dog run) so I have a place to do my zoomies! My foster mom takes me to the small dog side of the dog park and I have a great time running around and playing with all the other dogs. I don’t bark much so might make a good apartment dog too. I would prefer a home without young kids as they can be a bit scary for me. I also get a bit intimidated by big dogs so I would prefer a dog sibling my own size but I would also be fine as the only dog. I am a well behaved dog who is still learning my basic commands. Will you be new family?

Ernie is a male Feist, weighs 19 lbs and was born approximately 6-25-18. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given a Proheart injection for 6 months of heartworm preventative. Adoption fee is $350 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care.

We need ALL family members or those living within your home, to be present for an appointment. Preference is given to those with a verifiable veterinary reference and home ownership, although generally not required. Home ownership is verified through court records.
