Meet Pippen in MD

FOSTERED IN GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND. Pippen is a sweet, spayed, seven-year old, 77 lb. black female bouvier, with a docked tail and uncropped ears. She is up to date on veterinary care. She was surrendered by her owner who had had her since she was born. Pippen grew up with her Bouvier brother and mother, and a Chihuahua. She is a great dog, and very obedient. But, she is scared and timid when you first meet her, and likely will remain that way for several weeks after going to her new home. She warms up slowly, but every day demonstrates more comfort with her new people. We have seen no aggression at all from Pippen. With time, she'll start to nuzzle you and ask you to pet her, but at her own pace. She may run away or back off when you try to reciprocate. The best solution is to let her come to you on her schedule! After a month or so at her foster home, she became a bouncy, happy, active, playful Bouvier, though it didn't happen overnight. It doesn't mean that she doesn't like you, she's just reticent to love again... but she will. And she really loves other dogs! So a home with another dog her size who likes to play would be great for Pippen. Older children are better just because she's big and a little clunky. She needs lots of exercise as it appears she didn't get that in her past and needs to "tone" up and build up some muscle mass in her back legs. A big fenced in yard, and lots of walks are what she will need. She will also need a refresher on house breaking as she seems confused about getting on a schedule. Pippen just needs patience and more patience, but in time will blossom and be a wonderful companion and buddy. Her foster mom would keep her but already has four dogs and a full-time job!
