Peanut is looking for that special someone to watch television with, share an occasional snack with and most of all, snuggle with. He is an adult, around 8-10 years who only wants to be someones #1 cuddle companion and best friend. Peanut enjoys canine brothers and sisters any size, as long as they’re respectful, he will cuddle right in with them. He does enjoy playtime too. He occasionally wants to take more than his half of the bed, but with a little parental supervision, he sees the value in sharing. We think he would be happiest in a home with other dogs, small preferably. Peanut appreciates a quieter home where someone can focus on him, which won’t be hard as he follows you from room to room. He would love a home where his person is not away all day long. His potty habits are A+++ for an Italian greyhound, with access to go potty at intervals (with his foster siblings) he has had only one accident. Peanut is an EXCELLENT car traveler. He sleeps quietly while on the road and will listen to any genre of music. He walks wonderfully on a leash. He crates nicely when foster mom is away for part of the day. He can sleep in a crate at night but as an Iggy, much prefers the human bed! He does get overwhelmed and anxious when he is out in the community with lots of people. He does need a kind but firm person to work with him with his toy guarding behaviors around other dogs and when he gets protective of his people, at times, when strangers are around. He is doing well with this in his current foster home with consistency.. We think the best home would be one which is quiet with no kids and without much foot traffic or visitors or community outings. We are looking for just the right fit for Peanut to be successful and happy. We want this to be his FOREVER home. Peanut is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, Heartworm neg and on preventatives, and had a recent dental/extractions and has just one tooth left.

Our application process consists of a completed application, vet and two personal reference checks and home visit. We do require that your resident pets be spayed or neutered and have routine veterinary care and check-ups.

Our dogs are available for adoption in Nebraska and Iowa and will be considered for adoption to surrounding states (within a reasonable drive). We DO NOT transport or ship dogs. You would be responsible for picking up from foster home. If you are in a state other than NE or IA, you will need to work with your state's IGCA representative first in order to get your application processed and approved before being considered.
