Meet Hercules (Hercs)

Hercules is a very sweet 100 pound Chocolate Lab. His previous owner got him as a puppy and now he is around 7 or 8 years old.

Hercs (as he is known) loves to be around people and pines when he is left alone. The ‘sort’ of people doesn't matter to him—men, women or children. As a still licky-sort of enthusiastic dog, really little kids would probably get bounced around; but Hercs is extremely patient of things like ear-pulling or getting his tail stepped on. He just likes people.

Hercs loves to play but he sometimes ‘forgets’ to let go of his toys—then other times he remembers. He grew up as an indoor dog in Southern California, so Oregon cold sometimes gets to him; but, if you are playing with him, he quickly forgets any chilly weather!

It is clear Hercules wants to have much more room to run in—especially outside (lots of land?). When Hercs is indoors, he is generally calm (and even sleepy). An energetic owner is his sweet spot and he reacts happily to that level of positive energy—though he can get a bit headstrong at times when he is so ‘bouncy’. He has lots of energy for playing and walking!

If you have never owned a Labrador be aware that they shed hair a lot and their ‘otter-like’ tail, swinging in pure joy, can be a hazard to any Ming vases you might own. He grew up with several cats.

When he walks on a leash, for the most part Hercs is content to sniff and investigate. He does tend to pull and can be a tad willful; but the only thing to watch out for is that he can take umbridge to some male dogs, but only sometimes and only if they are the same size. Smaller dogs are fine by him.

Unfortunately, one of his owners passed away and the other must soon downsize; so a dog of Hercs' size cannot come along on the journey. He is hoping to spend his remaining years in happiness with the best of owners.
