PENDING ADOPTION JUNE 5, 2021 !!!!
PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS DOG. NO APARTMENTS OR CONDOS. RURAL HOME PREFERRED.
Ossie is an adorable tiny 11 pound terrier cross of some kind. For argument's sake, we have decided to call him a Jack/Yorkshire terrier cross. He is very fine boned and can be extremely vocal when excited. His age is estimated at between 3 and 4 years of age. I would guess the lower end of that spread.
This little guy was dumped at the shelter with a damaged hip joint and had FHO surgery in late November 2018. He is now off leash hiking several miles every day and is completely sound. The long term prognosis is excellent.
Yes, Ossie is incredibly cute. He is NOT dog-aggressive per se, but just socially maladroit. He does well with dogs his own size as long as the excitement level stays low. This is dog who needs a calm rural or semi-rural home with calm, quiet, dog-savvy people. No rampaging large-breed dogs, please.
Ossie has come back into rescue after 2 years because of family issues - nothing he has done. His behaviour has actually improved tremendously over the last 2 years.
Ossie adores all the people he meets and is very friendly with new people as long as they don't try to pick him up or handle him right off the bat. He LOVES going hiking or for any kind of walk, and he is super easy to handle by people he is familiar with. He adored the children in his first home.
Ossie is a focused and excellent ball dog and has been introduced to barn hunt. He is great with the similarly sized dogs he lives with in foster care but will slash at the bigger dogs if he gets over-excited. And, my, does he get excited! So - no apartments, no crazy Goldens for buddies, definitely no dog park-ing, Peace and quiet and some mountains to climb plus a dog door and a saint of an adopter needed.
NO cats, NO poultry, NO small furries. This guy was born to hunt.
Ossie is in foster care in the Portland area. His adoption fee is $200.
