Meet Max

Hey there! My name is Max! I'm a 2 year old Jack Russell terrier (my foster mom says mix, just to be safe, but she also said she wouldn't be surprised if I 100% Jack Russell). The vet says I weigh just over 14 lbs. I came to my foster home a bit of a mess, but my foster mom is getting me all better with the help of some medicine from the vet.

So let me tell you some things my foster mom has learned about me...

1. I love people. All people, big and small. My foster mom's wild kids don't bother me, in fact, I love the attention!
2. I get along with big dogs, little dogs and cats. My foster mom's senior dachshund tried to gum my face off (she is missing half her teeth) when I invaded her bubble to say hi and I just turned and walked away. I play with the giant lab, but i don't think either of us is aware of the size difference so my foster mom has to make sure I don't get squished. Her little dogs also like to play with me. I'm a little fiesty with the cat, but I respect that she would definitely beat me up so I try to keep my distance on the rare occasion when I decide to get sassy with her.
3. I'm a pretty quiet little guy, I don't bark much. I do whine for a little while when I get put to bed, but I'm not super loud. I'll settle down and go to sleep (sometimes in funny positions) though. I would be a GREAT apartment dog.
4. I've been an intact male for two years, so I am just now learning that marking all the things is absolutely not okay. I need my new family to know that I will need to be supervised when free to roam the house and will probably need to have a crate when no one is home until I really understand that marking is rude. I go out the doggy door without prompting to go potty though.
5. I haven't shown any tendencies towards chewing or destroying things. I do love food, and am pretty smart to boot, so teaching me new things with food as a reward will work very well.
6. I am pretty polite on a leash, I tug occasionally, and can get a little all over the place, but I would love to go for walks!
7. I am a goofball who likes to rub myself around the carpet.

Oh! I'm also heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and preventatives. I will be neutered prior to adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Max apply at www.purple-paws.org. Our adoption fee is $200 this helps cover cost of vaccines, preventatives, and spay/neuter surgeries.
