Sunshine Miller Poodle Houston, TX

Sunshine is a 9 year old, white, female toy poodle weighing just shy of 8 pounds. She was surrendered to us by her owner who could no longer care for her. Even though she wags her tail when you approach her kennel, she will strike you as being a little timid/shy at first but she’s not really. She just needs a few minutes with people who are new to her to determine that they mean her no harm. After all, she’s a little bitty, delicate girl and humans must look huge to her. Once she got to know me (as a volunteer), she was trusting, quiet and gentle. The day I interacted with her, she was a bit on the independent side often preferring to explore her surroundings as opposed to hanging out with me. She would come to me when I called her and enjoyed being petted and scratched, but as soon as I quit, she was soon off to explore the play yard some more. I didn’t get to spend much time with her. I will add more comments when I get a chance to know her better. Sunshine would probably do well with a recent retiree or an older adult who works from home. I would not recommend her for an older senior because Sunshine is tiny enough that she could get underfoot and an older senior might not be able to react quickly enough and could take a fall.

All the dogs are healthy, spayed/neutered, current on shots, parasite / heart worm disease tested (and treated if positive). All dogs are microchipped, groomed and trained to use a doggie door.
