Scout Border Collie Mix Manhattan, KS

Hello my name is Scout. I am a three year old, 40 lb Border Collie mix. I am energetic and love to play with other dogs. I also do not mind cats and tend to leave them alone unless I can get them to play with me. I will bark when someone comes to the door but I will be friendly once acknowledged. I love to protect my humans. I just want to be loved. I am still working on not jumping up on people. I love my humans and they make me so excited. It doesn’t matter if they are gone for hours or just a few minutes. I will still be very happy to see them. I love to follow them wherever they go. My foster parents say I should have been named Shadow. I use my doggie door when I need to go outside and have not had any accidents in the house. I can be trusted to be left in the house while my foster parents are at work, as long as they put up their shoes and leave me some chew toys or bones. I also enjoy sleeping with my foster parents and can be trusted to be left out at night. I do not enjoy being kenneled and will cry.

I would do best in an environment where I have some room to run. I have a lot of energy and I am not sure I would be very happy in an apartment. I also think I would enjoy being in a house with other dogs who like to play or with owners who can give me lots of love. I play with doggy friends nonstop at home in my foster home.

Since I have a lot of energy I would do best if I could get daily walks or have a yard to play in. Once I get over my excitement I will calm down and snuggle on the couch. I know how to sit and am working on other commands. My foster parents tell me I am such a sweet dog. I'm a good boy that deserves a forever home because I am a companion with lots of love to share.
