Meet SWITZER

Meet Switzer who hails from Oklahoma and is named after the famous Sooners coach! Switzer is full of life, he would make a good running buddy. He loves to go for walks and smell all the smells. He is also content curling up on the couch right next to you. Switzer knows “stranger danger” so he would need proper introductions to warm up to new people. However, once he knows you’re a safe person he will want to be your best friend! He is good while riding in the car, either looking out the window or taking a nap. Switzer did not know what a toy was before he was rescued, after a couple of months, he loves to play tug and his version of fetch! He is very smart and learns things very quickly (he has already caught on to sit and down). He is currently taking classes with a trainer and is doing very well, he masters his homework usually in the first sitting. Adopters will be asked to finish his classes with the trainer. He is kennel trained and sleeps through the night.
Switzer would love a fenced yard to run around & play freely in. He would do best in a home with no children, no future children, or small dogs. Switzer does enjoy playing with his foster sister, an Australian Shepard. He can be a little excited at times, but he does listen to her cues. Switzer's foster parents did take the time to introduce them slowly and properly. He still can be startled by sudden noise, movements, but now looks to his foster parents for reassurance. At this time we also recommend no cats. Switzer is potty trained. If you are looking for a playful, loving, smart, companion Switzer is the boy for you!

Switzer is a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Whippet mix, weighs 33 lbs and was born approximately 10-22-17. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested negative for heartworm disease & given a Proheart injection for 6 months old heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $300 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. The FIRST step is to have you complete our online adoption application. All adoption appointments are scheduled after your application has been approved. For adoption guidelines and to submit an application, please go to this link: http://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will receive a reply from DollysLegacy@aol.com within a few days of application submission, please make sure to check your spam folder if you do not see a reply within a week. We are a foster-home based rescue group and do not have a facility. We are 100% volunteer staff. All communication is done via email AFTER your application has been submitted. PLEASE be sure to answer all questions completely or it will delay processing, be sure to include vet phone#. Since all of our pets are in foster homes and not a facility, we hold adoption appointments once a week on either a Saturday or Sunday, during scheduled time period. We need ALL family members or those living within your home, to be present for an appointment. Preference is given to those with a verifiable veterinary reference and home ownership, although generally not required. Home ownership is verified through court records.
