Meet Thunder

UPDATE: Application period for Thunder will close Wednesday, January 16 to allow us time to review and approve all applications.

When you’ve just ridden out the hurricane named Florence, it kind of follows that the next dog you list for adoption is named “Thunder.” As his name suggests, Thunder is prone to grumbling and makes his opinions known. At 30 pounds, when he gets his ruff up, he looks like a pint sized lion and it’s hard not to smile at his complaining.

As long as he’s fed regularly and allowed to hang out with his humans, though, Thunder is generally pretty laid back. His favorite thing, next to getting his morning and evening meals, is getting loved on. A huge fan of petting and cuddling, he’ll beg for more with a gentle nudge of his nose. Going somewhere? Thunder adores joining you in the car for a ride and adventure and he also walks well on a leash. Herding is in his genes, so when the mood catches him, he’ll herd animals, humans, thrown objects – just about anything. The only thing he isn’t keen about is being picked up and carried. A boost from the floor to your bed is tolerated, however!

Thunder has been fostered with another dog and has been fine but he does have the tendency to get jealous. He’s much more interested in people than other canines so his foster family feels that he’d be best in an only dog household. He seems indifferent to cats, so we would consider adopting him out to a home with a resident feline. Thunder came into rescue as an 8 year old because he was attempting to herd the family toddler. We see this a lot with corgis and little ones, so Thunder will need a home that has humans aged 8 years or older.

Thunder’s fosters report that he is a ‘cute booger’ than came bounding into their lives. While he’s small for a male, when he puts his chest out and flashes that wide corgi grin there is nothing small about his corgi personality. He truly wants to be your best friend and has a ton of love to give!

Thunder is currently taking Apoquel for his allergies and also needs medication for his cataracts.
If you live in the states of NC, SC or GA and want to make Thunder your own, please submit an application. His adoption fee is $375.
