Meet Java
Java is a 3-4 year old dane girl that is the definition of Euro stocky... weighing in at 150 lbs. Miraculously, Java came into the rescue after being a stray and living in the woods in north Florida for over six months. She was being fed daily by a wonderful older couple for over three months, it took a long time for them to get her to trust them. She finally started coming up onto their porch for meals, and that's when the rescue stepped in to help them catch Java on September 5.
Java is not aggressive, but she's very fearful and petrified by most humans right now. She is currently living in a foster home with a senior male dane, a doxie, and young kid - and she's coming out of her shell more and more every day.
She is fine with other dogs, she's not really in a playful mode though. She's still too stuck in her own head. But, she is VERY SCARED of new people, she needs to learn to trust. It takes her a long time to let her guard down with any humans. Java isnt remotely aggressive, she's constantly pancaking and is more of a flight risk.
Java is fully vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Whoever is interested in Java will need to understand that it's going to be a slow and steady acclimation process with her. We do now know what happened to Java in her early life to make her so very fearful of humans that she chose to live in the woods for months on end.. We do know that once you earn her trust, she is the sweetest, most loving girl.
We feel Java would do well with someone who is home more so than not and can work with her and push her out of her comfort zone a little more every day. And she could definitely use the help of another well balanced dog to help her acclimate and learn the ropes and understand that life can be good, if you let it!
Java's adoption fee will be $300. To apply to adopt her go to www.nwflgdr.com/adopt.
