Meet Harper

Brothers! Our experience with Setter litters is that you get a whole batch of great young pups! Every one is different, with their own skills and personality, but all are great. Harper is a brother and litter-mate to Jaxon, and like Jaxon he is another great young setter in the making. Is Harper the right boy for you? Let's see…

Orville and Wilbur Wright… Young dogs can be a challenge -- in his first days, Harper was the more outgoing of our two boys. Of course, "outgoing" in a seven-month old pup means that he might take flight and exceed the bounds of your world. Harper needs some guidance and coaching as he builds his world around you. The best part of life with a young pup is the years that you can look forward to -- filled with the joy and love you share with your Setter. Harper is smart and capable with the whole world ahead of him.

Harper is an engaging and sweet natured young Setter. He is a family dog who loves his home and people, and needs the right people to grow into the dedicated and loyal Setter that he has inside him. Like his brother, he's already in the "rookie of the year" race among Good Setters -- who knows where such a spirit can take him?

Mycroft and Sherlock Holmes… Harper is house trained and crate trained. He knows some basic commands, and the more you teach him the happier he'll be! He loves his interactions and enjoys the treats that come when he learns new skills. Harper loves walks on a leash but does pull when he sees or smells something interesting. If you're patient with this young pup you will be rewarded as he grows into adulthood. He gets along fine with dogs after proper introductions, but has not been exposed to cats so he is not recommended for a home with cats. It’s people who really make his tail wag! He’s all about family, and he'll be a faithful companion and protector to the person or family who invites him into their home.

Harper likes birds and outdoor creatures, but (like his brother) we do not see hunting dog skills. He’s well-behaved and not a chewer, but he gets a bit anxious when you leave him. He is young, and should settle in as he comes to learn that "your home" is his furever home too!

The Marx brothers… Harper is very affectionate and fun-loving, and he loves contact with people. He loves his play and exercise outdoors, and as a young boy he’s probably best-fit with an active family. He’s used to sleeping nights in his crate, and he'd love to earn bedroom privileges. Furniture privileges would be new to him, and he would appreciate them very much. He has not lived in a home with children but would probably be ok with elementary age or pre-teen/teenagers. The main thing he's looking for is being near YOU.

Like his brother, Harper is a wonder -- even among Setters he's an uncommonly friendly and loving young pup. He is timid at first but then adapts to new dogs and people. He needs another active dog in his forever home and a fenced yard to play in. He just needs someone to love him and guide him and help grow into the truly rare companion that he seeks to be.

Harper is in a foster home in Denver, CO. He is healthy, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. He is young, and he will benefit from an active family that can guide and teach and love him as he grows into what we expect will be a truly rare companion. Are you the right home for this engaging and spirited boy?
