Meet Kaya

UPDATE:
Kaya Update - 15 1/2 yo Shiba Inu came to us 3 months ago hardly able to take 3 steps without falling over, scabby and missing 1/2 her beautiful coat, deaf, blind in one eye and infection in the other eye and a mere 13 lbs of yellow nasty fur. Look at this girl today!!!!! She is on two simple meds, great food and a diaper over night just in case - but she’s simply amazing. I love this little lamb. She needs a loving hospice home. Is that you?

____________

Kaya recently came to us from Hillsborough County animal services. She was turned into the shelter as a stray and though her “owners” knew where she was they decided it was best to leave her there to be euthanized. Though we know the vet staff would have made her comfortable in her last days, we just couldn’t let her go without a fight...and trust us, this girl is a fighter. Kaya is around 13 years old and small, roughly 15lbs. She is blind in one eye and the other eye has an infection...we believe she may only able to see shadows and shapes out of it. In addition she has bad teeth and a heart murmur. She also has the wonderful, kind nature of a sweet dog and is a love to have around the house. Kaya has been seen by our vet and is receiving much needed, long overdue, vet care. Please watch our page for her progress.

ATTENTION:
Please note, all of our dogs are in foster homes. You must fill out a application before you can meet/see the dogs we have available.
If you see the dog on here, it is still available. If curious on updates of a dog, check out our facebook page!

Adoption Process:
Fill out an application at www.newlifedogrescue.com
We will do a background check and verify home ownership. If rental, we must receive a letter from the
management company or owner on their letter head approving the breed listed of the dog they are
inquiring about. If the background check has any discrepancies or the current animals in the home are
not current on vaccinations we will void the application.
We do a home inspection. Often times we will do a meet and greet in the home with the dog and the
family if they are in the Tampa Bay area and have another animal in the home.
If all is approved then the adopters will complete a final contract form and the donation is made at
which time the health records and all shot records are turned over to the new owner.
