Meet Kenzie - Adopted

Kenzie: 4 Year Old, F, Seal Point Ragdoll Mix

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of this cat. We take no responsibility for the health and medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this. For more information about this adorable girl, please contact her foster mom Paulette at 510-604-9020 or email sandpmurillo@sbcglobal.net . Please note that Kenzie is not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with her foster mom who is associated with a different rescue organization in Castro Valley, CA.

This lovely and sweet girl must surely think to herself “What did I ever do to humans to deserve being thrown outside from my home?” When you look at one of her pictures, she sure looks quite sad and confused about her situation. It is our mission to find her a FOREVER home.

Here is her sad story, which is provided by the wonderful rescue lady who has brought Kenzie’s situation to the attention of our organization. We told her we would spread the word about this adorable feline and will do everything in our power to place her in a permanent and super loving home – she so deserves it after what she has been through:

Kenzie is a beautiful, plush 14 lb. Ragdoll mix. She has had a rather bumpy ride in her first 4 years of life and would very much appreciate a permanent home.
Originally found as an abandoned newborn kitten, Kenzie was bottle fed by a cat rescuer who eventually adopted her out to a neighbor. The neighbor passed Kenzie on to a friend where she was not welcomed by a dog. For a couple years Kenzie became used to life as an indoor cat with her new owner. Sadly the gentleman passed away. There were no relatives to care for Kenzie, so a police officer asked neighbors to take her in. They were happy to help, but unfortunately their own cat didn’t tolerate Kenzie being in the house, so they put Kenzie out in their backyard while they tried to find her a loving home. As soon as we posted her, someone fell in love with this gorgeous looking girl.

This might be TMI but we want to share it anyway: The adopter discovered that Kenzie had trouble with bowel movements. This poor darling went a week with no bowel movement! So off to the vet she went for an enema. The vet prescribed three kinds of medication to be given to her twice a day. This was too much for both the adopter and Kenzie so she was returned and came to live with her foster mom. Her foster mom also found Kenzie difficult to medicate. She would never bite or scratch her (Kenzie is the sweetest, gentlest cat) but she struggled so hard and she weighs 14 pounds so that many times the medication (a liquid) ended up on her face and neck instead of in her mouth.
Then foster mom’s friend who has a Himalayan with the same bowel issue told her she doesn’t have to medicate her cat; she just feeds her a prescription food.
So now Kenzie is on the same prescription food, she doesn’t need the medications and her little system is now regulated. The food isn’t that expensive as she only eats 3/4 of a cup a day. She was updated on vaccinations in early May and is spayed.

Kenzie is a rather shy cat, skittish at loud noises, but very mellow, sweet and loving. She likes being petted and scratched. A gentle cat, she even allows you to give her a bath. She is okay with other tolerant cats and has been fine with a small dog. Let’s find this lovely girl a permanent home where someone will treasure her, keep her indoors, and provide her with the right food that she tolerates and that keeps her regular.

Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue (purebredsplus.org), serving Northern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Northern Nevada, is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of purebred cats, kittens and other exceptional felines. We are a 501 (c)3 non-profit rescue group. Most of our beautiful felines come from Northern California Animal Shelters. One of our goals is to keep purebred cats from ever ending up in a shelter. We are happy to help you if you need to rehome your purebred cat. Often, we can offer advice if your cat is having behavioral problems, and you may end up keeping the cat. We do NOT ship cats. We will place cats out of area but you must arrange to come and meet your new friend in person.
