If you are looking for a great mix of lap dog and exercise buddy, come meet Alfonso! While he may look a bit strange, with his Chihuahua body and extra-long whippet-like legs, he is without a doubt one of the cutest and most interesting-looking dogs around. His head is almost the exact size and shape of a blueberry muffin turned on its side, and his huge inquisitive eyes shine with intelligence. Alfonso is a super smart guy with a pretty typical Chihuahua-type personality. He is not afraid to tell someone what he does and doesn’t like, so his ideal human will provide him with mental stimulation, plenty of exercise and discipline, and of course lots and lots of love. Because he can sometimes be selective about his human friends, Alfonso needs an adult-only, dog-experienced home. He is around 2 years old and is an excellent candidate for training classes with an undoubtedly wide range of talents just waiting to be discovered. He was very thin on his arrival at Saving Grace , weighing around 12 pounds, and needs to gain at least 3-4 more to fill out his handsome frame. He has clearly lived in a home, and loves nothing more than finding a lap of his own to curl up in and to hear someone telling him what a good boy he is. He enjoys long walks, has nice leash manners, and rides well in the car as long as his human is in sight. He has demonstrated a preference not to be crated, but this should not be a problem in his new home (once he learns his new potty routine) as he is not the least bit destructive. He is playful and gets along well with other dogs of all shapes, sizes and genders, but would be fine as an only-dog as well. All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccinations, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.
