Meet Diva

Diva is a purebred female Exotic Shorthair whose original name Salome was changed because of the little Diva who she is :-). She was bred in Kiev (and has a Ukrainian passport to prove it!) and born in May of 2013, then sold to an individual in Kuwait, where she was used as a Queen, which is what breeding females are called. Her owner kept her and a stud male Exotic Shorthair in horrible conditions: they were enclosed in small cages, outside, and the owner would stop by once a week to toss some food and water into the cages!!! Somehow, both cats got rescued by kind cat lovers determined to end their suffering and to find them loving homes as family pets...no more breeding! Since rescue is uncommon in Kuwait, it was arranged for the two cats, along with others, to be flown to America in mid-June in order to find loving forever homes there. While the male's adoption was lined up already prior to their transport, Diva was transferred to our rescue, and we are now seeking a home as loving, exciting, fun, and charming as Diva is. This cat has overcome so much adversity and change in her short life, she now deserves security and pampering forever! -- Upon arrival in Northern Virginia, her routine rescue vet work was completed: deworming, flea meds, distemper vaccines, rabies vaccine, exam, FIV/FeLV test to confirm nonexistence of feline aids and feline leukemia infection, spay surgery, and an ID microchip to assist in finding home should this kitty ever accidentally get out the house. -- Please note that Exotic Shorthairs, while not requiring as much hands-on grooming as their Himalayan and Persian relatives, are as pretty as they are high-maintenance because they are extremely people-oriented and need attention and TLC just like they do need food and water. Many of these cats were discarded by previous owners due to the amount of care they need... so please, please consider carefully whether you will make this daily routine part of your life for the rest of this cat's life... or whether a domestic shorthair or mediumhair kitty might be a better match for you and your family. Exotics are a great companion for those who love to touch and pet and scratch ears and snuggle and share affection... but not for people easily distracted when the newness of the pet wears off. -- If you are serious about wanting to adopt this sweet, self-confident, and fearless beauty queen, please go to www.va-persianrescue.org, where you can find an application, a description of the adoption process, and a copy of the adoption contract to be signed later. Send us your completed application so that we can approve you for adoption! Her adoption fee is intended to off-set the high expense of her ambitious rescue plus some extra for another deserving kitty in danger and in need of surgery. We count on your understanding and generous support. -- Please bear in mind that this rescue works with volunteers exclusively, the kitties are fostered in private homes, and most of our foster parents have full time jobs and family to master. Do assume that we want to work with you but don't lose patience when we don't respond and move forward as quickly as you wish. We do the best we can! :-)
