Rufus Pharaoh Hound & Shepherd Mix Euclid, OH

Rufus is about 4 years old. He is very alert and sensitive to his surroundings. He would make a wonderful, affectionate companion when paired with the right owner and home environment. He has some behavior issues (fear-based aggression) which we believe can be overcome with a loving and assertive owner that is experienced with dogs and willing to manage a dog's behavior. The son of an employee at the shelter adopted Rufus from a woman that was too sick to continue to care for him. Rufus was happy in his new home and had a litter of pups, but when his male puppy got older he became agressive toward it. We suspect he was abused by the first woman owner as his fear aggression is at times directed towards women. For this reason we are looking to rehome him to a single male with no children.

IF YOU COME TO VISIT RUFUS, PLEASE ASK TO SPEAK TO LYNDA, OUR VET TECH. BECAUSE RUFUS HAS BITTEN BEFORE HE IS LOOKING TO BE ADOPTED PRIVATELY. VOLUNTEERS MAY NOT KNOW THIS AND MAY TELL YOU HE IS NOT UP FOR ADOPTION SO ASK FOR LYNDA FOR ALL THE FACTS ON RUFUS.

Complimentary dog training classes with Alpha and Omega dog training will be paid for in partnership with Euclid Pet Pals if desired (a $1200 value and the classes are at your home!). Rufus has shown great potential with shelter volunteers, including women, who upon entering Rufus' living area are showered with doggie kisses and are even offered an exposed belly to rub. He wants to be submissive and loved, he is just afraid and needs to gain trust in people. He has had sucessful dog interactions (smaller dogs are less intimidating), but a meet and greet would be necessary.
