Bear German Shepherd Dog Lodi, WI

Bear is a very special boy indeed…he is 3 to 4 years old….and came into the shelter as a stray….although he wasn’t really able to come into the shelter. The good folks at the shelter got a call about a dog that had been laying in someone’s yard for days…..they went out to investigate and found a gorgeous black German shepherd dog that had horrific injuries to his feet, legs and shoulder…..we will spare you the pictures. It is believed that Bear was caught in a trap and managed to extricate himself but in the process damaged his shoulder. The shelter peeps took him to a vet and they fixed him up again….he had a limp but they contacted us to see what we could do….so we at ARFS took him in and he spent several months in a sling to make sure his shoulder stayed in place…it did! His wounds are all healed and now he is looking for his forever home. Bear was not socialized as a pup, so he has to be an only dog…and only animal in the house. He just likes it that way…..he will need someone who KNOWS GSD behavior and understands that he is reactive. His great foster family has worked with him and he is improving daily. He loves people, but will guard his fave person in the house so we are looking for a very special family for Bear. He would do best in an adult only environment – NO children- and would love a fenced yard…he has successfully chased all manner of squirrels and critters away from his foster family’s yard…..and will do the same at yours!
