Shiny Canaan Dog Mix Niagara Falls, ON

Breed: Mix indigenous Iranian breed (cannan &/or pariah, &/or molosser)
Behavior: She is very sweet and affectionate with all humans. She’s is an alpha dog, and needs some training regarding food possessiveness with other dogs.
History: Saved from the streets after an accident
Disability: Tripod - amputated 1 front limb after accident

Shiny is a darling. She had never experienced human kindness until after she was hit by a car and rescued about 1 yr ago. Due to severity of her injuries, her right front limb had to be amputated. Once her medical needs were met and she recovered, she showed her appreciation for human love and compassion to her rescuers. She is a sweet girl and all she does when she sees a person is drop to the ground on her back in a submissive manner for rubs and love. She is good with other dogs but she is usually the alpha of the pack. She needs her human to be an experienced dog owner who can direct and train her. If she is coming to a home with other dogs, then she needs to be introduced to them in an appropriate manner. She is food possessive, therefore, it is best to feed her in a controlled manner while going through a proper training routine to address this behavior. Given she is missing her front leg she is not overly active and she should be kept at a healthy weight to avoid any unnecessary pressure on her joints (should be applied to all dogs!). She may do well with prosthetic leg in the future but it is not a requirement at the moment.
