Meet DIXIE

**Bear & Dixie are currently on medical hold while they undergoes life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. They will be ready for a forever home July 21st**

You can try, but we promise you won’t be able to find a cuter friendship than that of Dixie and Bear! This precious duo has been through a lot of change in the last few months and they are ready to settle down. Dolly’s Legacy took in this bonded pair and it was soon discovered they both had heart worms. They are now going through heartworm treatment in one of our quiet “foster grandma” homes. They are good, gentle, and loving dogs. They love spending time together and they also love the company of their humans. Dixie and Bear are completely house trained and can be trusted to roam free- they have never had an accident or caused any damage in their foster home. They are looking for a fenced yard so they can stretch their legs and explore the outdoors safely. Since they are so attached, Dixie and Bear might be a little protective of each other so introducing other dogs should be done slowly. Dixie and Bear have so much love to give and they deserve to be adored, too. We will not separate this bonded pair, please do not ask that we do so. They have been through too much to lose each other.

Dixie is a Hound/Corgi mix (our best guess on breeds), weighs 42 lbs and was born approximately 4-14-14. Bear appears to be a purebred Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, weighs 44 lbs and was born approximately 4-18-15. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. Bear & Dixie both undergoing life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. They will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure they are heartworm free. Adoption fee is $450 for this awesome bonded pair to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. The FIRST step is to have you complete our online adoption application. All adoption appointments are scheduled after your application has been approved. Since all of our pets are in foster homes and not a facility, we hold adoption appointments once a week on either a Saturday or Sunday, during scheduled time period. We need ALL family members or those living within your home, to be present for an appointment. Preference is given to those with a verifiable veterinary reference and home ownership, although generally not required. Home ownership is verified through court records. If you are a renter, you must provide landlord contact information. For adoption guidelines and to submit an application, please go to this link: http://dollyslegacyanimalrescue.org/adopt/ You will receive a reply from dollyslegacyadoptions@gmail.com within a few days of application submission, please make sure to check your spam folder if you do not see a reply within a week.
