Boomer was a stray near Oelwein, Iowa. He went unclaimed and his time was up. Waverly Pet Rescue took him in. Boomer is now up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and neutered.

Boomer is about 3 years old and weighs about 35 pounds. He gets along great with other dogs. Looks for human interaction and attention. He is a bit needy right now with barking but we feel it is because of all the changes in his life. It is hard on a loving dog to be a stray. Once he settles into a home and established a routine, he will be just fine. He bonds deeply to his people. He is house and kennel trained. Likes to cuddle and sit on your lap. Very affectionate. Loves children and in general all people. He has not been around cats. Loves to splash around in the pool with his friends. We do not want him to end up a stray again so he must have a home with a fenced in yard, this is required to adopt Boomer.

6/26/18 UPDATE: Boomer's foster home is doggy daycare. He is doing pretty well here. What is great is that he is also getting a lot of training while he is here. He is a sweetheart for the most part. He is starting to guard staff with the other dogs some and that is natural in this environment when he is here everyday. He sure loves to go for car rides. He likes to cuddle and kiss. He may bark at first initial meeting you but then wants attention. He does mouth still and jump up and we are working on that. He does very well on a leash. Wants to be by you so won't go far.

WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. To see an animal, you must fill out an application first and then once approved, we can set up for you to meet the animal you are interested in. We do background checks on all applicants. All animals see a vet for shots and normal exams. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters.
Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $300 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
